Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of an Inpatient Behavioral Health Program.
This leadership role combines direct patient care responsibilities with administrative oversight of behavioral health services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inpatient psychiatry, consult-liaison psychiatry, quality improvement, and physician leadership.
This position offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams, drive clinical excellence, support program development, and contribute to the growth of behavioral health services within a hospital-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Leadership

Serve as Medical Director for the inpatient behavioral health program

Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and
performance management initiatives

Participate in executive, medical staff, and behavioral health leadership meetings

Monitor provider productivity, clinical quality, and compliance metrics

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management of psychiatric providers and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
-
Support service line growth, strategic planning, and
program development
- Act as the primary escalation point for clinical and operational issues
Clinical Responsibilities

Provide attending psychiatric services for inpatient behavioral health patients

Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and
discharge assessments

Lead multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and patient care rounds

Perform psychiatric consultations for emergency department and medical-surgical patients

Complete capacity evaluations and other complex psychiatric assessments

Supervise Advanced Practice Providers in accordance with applicable regulations

Ensure timely completion of clinical documentation and billing requirements

Maintain high standards of evidence-based psychiatric care and
patient safety
Education & Mentorship
- Support education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and clinical staff when applicable

Behavioral Health leadership experience

Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics, accreditation standards, and
regulatory compliance
- Experience with physician recruitment, provider supervision, and
program development

Compensation
- Salary Range: $300,000 – $305,000 annually
