Position Overview
A community-based hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Radiologic Services to lead and manage all imaging operations. This position provides both strategic oversight and hands‑on clinical involvement, ensuring high‑quality imaging services and efficient departmental performance.
The Director is responsible for operational leadership, regulatory compliance, staff development, workflow optimization, quality assurance, and participation in imaging procedures as needed. This role is ideal for a highly skilled imaging leader who excels in a smaller hospital setting and enjoys balancing administrative duties with clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
Oversee daily operations of the Radiology Department
Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate radiologic technologists and support staff
Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting agencies (including JCAHO/Joint Commission and ACR)
Manage staff scheduling, productivity, and workload distribution
Oversee imaging equipment maintenance, calibration, utilization, and safety compliance
Lead quality assurance, quality control, and performance-improvement initiatives
Assist in budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation
Maintain vendor relationships and participate in equipment procurement and service contract evaluations
Clinical Responsibilities
Perform imaging procedures as needed, including:
X-ray
CT
Mammography
Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety and ALARA principles
Position and prepare patients appropriately for imaging exams
Demonstrate competency working with all patient age groups (pediatric to geriatric)
Maintain high standards of diagnostic image quality
Support technologists with clinical problem-solving and protocol optimization
Administrative & Technical
Enter and verify imaging exams in PACS/RIS for teleradiology workflows
Retrieve and input radiologic orders within the EMR system
Coordinate imaging documentation, reporting workflows, and communication with radiologists
Maintain accurate departmental records, logs, and regulatory documentation
Ensure compliance with image archiving, retention, and teleradiology requirements
Monitor productivity metrics, turnaround times, and performance indicators
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Active Florida Radiologic Technologist License
Current ARRT Certification (R.T.)
ARRT Mammography Certification (M)
Current BLS Certification
Minimum 5+ years of imaging experience
Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a rural or community hospital environment
Strong knowledge of Joint Commission and American College of Radiology (ACR) standards
Experience with budgeting, cost control, and departmental operations
Experience with PACS, RIS, and EMR systems

Base Salary:
$100,000 – $130,000 annually (commensurate with experience, certifications, and leadership background)
