Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing (RN)
Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily nursing operations and ensuring high-quality patient care.
This role involves supervising nursing staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing resources, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of nursing services within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Nursing Operations & Patient Care

Assist in managing daily nursing operations and ensuring quality standards of patient care.

Supervise, delegate, and evaluate nursing staff performance.

Ensure adequate staffing and appropriate assignment of duties.

Monitor patient care delivery and address any issues or concerns.
2. Staff Management & Development
-
Support recruitment, training, and development of nursing staff.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and corrective actions as needed.

Develop and implement staff training and development programs.
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance
-
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and standards.

Maintain adherence to safety protocols, including abuse and neglect prevention policies.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
4. Budget & Resource Management
-
Assist in managing the nursing department budget.

Ensure availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and staffing resources.
5. Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and other healthcare professionals.

Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and care planning discussions.
6. Strategic Planning & Operations

Support strategic initiatives to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Implement programs to reduce hospital readmissions and improve outcomes.
Qualifications
Education & Training
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience & Skills
-
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience; leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare regulations, and patient care standards.

Proven leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience in staff scheduling, budgeting, and healthcare operations management.
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, bending, lifting, and extended periods of standing or sitting.

Manual dexterity and coordination for clinical and administrative tasks.

Ability to assist with patient handling when necessary.
