Job Title: Biomedical Equipment Technician

Job Overview

The Biomedical Equipment Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating a wide range of medical equipment to ensure safe, accurate, and reliable operation.

This role involves hands-on technical work, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting healthcare operations through high-quality equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing on medical equipment.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate biomedical devices.

  • Service equipment such as autoclaves, anesthesia machines, centrifuges, infusion pumps, and patient monitors.

2. Technical Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions at system and component levels.

  • Perform repairs using schematics and technical documentation.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

4. Inventory & Resource Management

  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.

  • Ensure availability of required materials for maintenance tasks.

5. Customer Support & Communication

  • Provide technical assistance and support to users.

  • Train staff on proper equipment operation and maintenance.

6. Operations & Field Support

  • Manage assigned tasks and timelines efficiently.

  • Travel to service locations as required.

Qualifications

Education & Training

  • Associate’s degree or certification in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field preferred.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and manuals.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills at component and system levels.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment (up to approximately 75 lbs).

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday.
