Job Summary
The Equine Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating medical and surgical conditions in horses, with a focus on advanced surgical procedures and performance-related issues. This role involves performing both routine and complex surgeries, utilizing modern diagnostic tools, and collaborating with veterinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Surgical Care
Perform a wide range of surgical procedures, including minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and arthroscopy
Diagnose and treat orthopedic, abdominal, and general surgical conditions in equine patients
Manage cases related to lameness and performance issues
Diagnostics & Treatment Planning
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as radiography, ultrasonography, MRI, and endoscopy
Interpret diagnostic results and develop effective treatment plans
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure optimal recovery
Patient Management
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Ensure high standards of animal care, safety, and welfare
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with veterinary staff and support teams to deliver coordinated care
Participate in emergency and on-call duties as required
Support training or mentoring of junior staff or veterinary students where applicable
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
Experience in equine surgery, including orthopedic and general procedures
Strong knowledge of diagnostic imaging and surgical techniques
Preferred Qualifications
Board certification or eligibility in veterinary surgery (e.g., ACVS, ECVS)
