Lead Engineer / Municipal Engineering

Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to manage municipal engineering projects from planning and design through construction.

This role will lead engineering teams, manage client relationships, oversee project delivery, and mentor project staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage municipal projects including water/sewer utilities, roadways, drainage, and related infrastructure.

• Lead project planning, design, specifications, cost estimates, construction administration, and observation.

• Manage and mentor engineers, technicians, and project team members.

• Coordinate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Prepare proposals and support business development activities.

• Review project schedules, budgets, plans, and specifications.

• Provide technical guidance and make independent engineering decisions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree a plus.

• 7+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in municipal engineering.

• PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure within 6–12 months.

• Strong project and construction management experience.

• Experience with civil design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.

• Municipal infrastructure experience involving water/sewer, roads, and drainage preferred.

• Experience working with local, county, or state agencies is a plus.

• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/GeoPak, ArcGIS, or SketchUp is a plus.
