Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (PE) – Piping & Fluid Transfer Systems | Utility Infrastructure

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (PE) with expertise in piping systems, fluid transfer, pumping systems, and utility infrastructure design.
The successful candidate will support engineering, design, and construction projects from concept through completion while ensuring compliance with project requirements, budgets, schedules, and industry standards.
This role requires strong project management capabilities, technical leadership, and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams in both office and field environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management

Manage multiple design and construction projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and available funding

Develop project definitions, scopes of work, execution strategies, schedules, and cost forecasts

Identify staffing and resource requirements and coordinate with relevant stakeholders
Engineering & Design
-
Lead the development of mechanical system designs to meet project objectives

Design and review piping systems, pump selection, fluid transfer systems, controls, and related equipment
-
Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, material requisitions, and construction documents
-
Perform design reviews to verify compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards
Construction Support
- Provide technical oversight during construction and
commissioning activities

Identify and resolve design and construction issues proactively to minimize schedule impacts
-
Coordinate technical solutions among engineering, project management, contractors, vendors, and operations teams
Documentation & Compliance

Manage project documentation from initiation through closeout

Review and process change orders, submittals, and
as-built documentation
Required Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum 8 years of experience managing engineering design and construction projects (required)

Strong experience in piping system design, including pipe sizing, pump selection, and pumping system controls (required)
Documentation Skills:

Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing constructability reviews, conceptual engineering studies, and
alternatives analysis
- Experience supporting projects in utility, industrial, laboratory, manufacturing, energy, or
research facility environments

Knowledge of site utility systems, including:
- Mechanical systems
- Potable water systems
- Sanitary sewer systems
- Stormwater systems
- Steam systems
- Electrical and communication utility infrastructure

OSHA 30 Construction Safety certification

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
