Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Metal Shop Technician to support daily manufacturing and fabrication operations.
This role is responsible for material preparation, cutting, fitting, assembly, and general shop support activities.
The technician will work closely with engineering, production, and operations teams to ensure products are manufactured safely, accurately, and delivered on schedule.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Welding experience is beneficial but not required. Opportunities for cross-training and skill development in fabrication and welding may be available.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Operations

Cut, grind, fit, and prepare materials for fabrication and production

Operate fabrication equipment such as band saws, rollers, drills, grinders, and other shop tools

Assist in the fabrication and assembly of metal components and products
-
Prepare parts for finishing, painting, packaging, and shipment
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Production Support
-
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and production documentation
-
Support fabrication, welding, and assembly activities as required
-
Assist with prototype development, custom projects, and production orders
-
Participate in cross-training opportunities to develop fabrication and welding skills
Warehouse & Inventory Support

Pick materials and components for production and customer orders
-
Receive, inspect, and organize incoming materials and shipments
-
Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and material organization
-
Support shipping, receiving, packaging, and material handling activities
Team Collaboration & Communication
-
Work closely with engineering, operations, and production teams to meet production schedules and customer requirements

Update work order progress and production information within ERP systems
-
Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, equipment issues, and production delays
Required Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
Experience:
-
Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, production, warehouse, or industrial environment (required)
-
Experience operating fabrication equipment such as band saws, drills, grinders, rollers, or similar tools (required)
-
Basic understanding of metal fabrication processes, including cutting, fitting, bending, and assembly (required)

Experience with ERP systems or the ability to quickly learn new software and technology
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and
measurements

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Preferred Qualifications

Welding knowledge or experience

Familiarity with manufacturing automation technologies
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly

Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday

Manual dexterity required to safely operate tools, machinery, and equipment

Ability to identify quality issues, read measurements, and interpret technical documentation

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures
