We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician (MD/DO) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered medical care. The physician will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients while supporting continuity of care and positive clinical outcomes. The position also includes clinical leadership and supervision of advanced practice providers and medical support staff, as well as participation in quality improvement, education, and evidence-based care initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation services.

  • Deliver patient-centered care to individuals and families.
  • Obtain and document complete medical histories, review of systems, physical examinations, medications, allergies, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Develop individualized treatment and care plans and provide appropriate patient and family education.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and address patient questions and clinical concerns.
  • Provide orders for prescription refills, medications, diagnostic testing, referrals, and other appropriate services.
  • Review laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic results promptly and ensure appropriate patient notification and follow-up.
  • Provide medical oversight for patients receiving care through home health, nursing facilities, hospice, and other external agencies.
  • Provide timely and accurate clinical documentation and complete required paperwork related to patient care, insurance, and reimbursement.
  • Be available to patients through direct communication or clinical staff to address questions and provide information regarding their care.
  • Supervise assigned advanced practice providers and provide clinical guidance, support, and feedback.
  • Assume responsibility for patient cases managed by advanced practice providers as needed based on patient acuity and complexity.
  • Direct patient-care activities of nursing and medical support staff as appropriate.
  • Complete documentation and paperwork requiring physician review or approval.
  • Train and supervise medical students, residents, PA students, NP students, and other learners as appropriate.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including monitoring, measuring, analyzing, and improving clinical services and outcomes.
  • Review peer and advanced practice provider charts when appropriate and provide constructive feedback to promote evidence-based care and continuous learning.
  • Support compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, incentive, and certification requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based clinical standards, methods, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Training

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.

Licensure & Certifications

Current, unrestricted North Carolina MD or DO license required.

  • Current DEA certificate required.
  • Board Certification in the applicable specialty preferred.
  • BLS and all applicable certifications required and must be obtained within 30 days of employment, as applicable.

Experience

Previous medical office experience preferred.

  • Previous FQHC experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Strong clinical judgment and knowledge of current evidence-based care standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teaching, supervision, and evaluation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email communication.
