Principal Recovery Surgeon / Organ Procurement & Transplant Surgeon

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Recovery Surgeon / Organ Procurement & Transplant Surgeon to join a pioneering medical technology company transforming organ transplantation. In this role, you will drive life-saving donor organ recovery and procurement, particularly kidney recovery, within a dynamic, 24/7 active-case support environment. Compensation: $500,000 – $600,000. Location: Chicago, IL and New York, NY (with travel to regional hubs). Work Environment: Fast-paced, time-sensitive recovery missions with a national clinical network. Specialty/Business Area: Medical technology / organ transplantation (National OCS Program). This opportunity is unique because it allows you to leverage your surgical expertise at the forefront of organ preservation and recovery logistics, working with a rapidly growing organization that completed over 5,100 U.S. transplants in 2025, offering a dynamic, highly compensated alternative to traditional hospital-based recipient-only surgery.

Responsibilities:

• Perform donor organ recovery/procurement procedures, with a focus on kidney and abdominal organs.

• Participate in deceased-donor and DCD (Donation After Circulatory Death) recovery.

• Evaluate donor organs and coordinate with multidisciplinary transplant teams and donor organizations.

• Support safe preservation, transport, and handoff of recovered organs during time-sensitive missions.

Qualifications:

• Medical Degree (Physician/Surgeon).

• Significant hands-on experience in deceased-donor organ recovery and transplantation, particularly kidney procurement/recovery.

Technical & Soft Skills:

• Technical: Organ procurement, organ recovery, organ retrieval, DCD, NRP (Normothermic Regional Perfusion), multi-organ procurement, abdominal transplant surgery, organ preservation/perfusion.

• Soft: Multidisciplinary coordination, time-sensitive decision-making, clear communication.
