Job Title: PRN Activity Therapist

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Activity Therapist (PRN) to plan, implement, and facilitate therapeutic activity programs as part of patient treatment plans. The ideal candidate will support patients’ mental, physical, and social well-being through structured recreational and therapeutic activities in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct activity assessments through observation and patient/family interviews

Develop and implement individualized activity-based treatment plans

Plan, organize, and lead therapeutic activities to support patient goals

Facilitate sessions such as recreation, exercise, art, music, and relaxation techniques

Engage patients in activities that promote mental, physical, and social well-being

Support development of social and independent living skills

Modify activities to meet the needs of different patient groups

Monitor patient progress and adjust programs as needed

Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional approach to patient care

Ensure patient safety and address concerns or complaints effectively

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or a related field (required)

Master’s degree (preferred)

Minimum 3+ years of experience in recreational therapy within a healthcare setting

Knowledge of patient populations and therapeutic activity planning

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Licenses & Certifications

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or in the process of certification;

OR certification in a specialty area (Art, Music, Dance, etc.);

OR relevant clinical licensure with expressive therapy certification

CPR certification (required)

De-escalation and restraint training (required; may be provided)

First Aid certification (as required)

Work Schedule

PRN (as needed)
