Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (UAS / Aerospace)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or aerospace design. This role involves leading the mechanical design and development of aircraft systems from concept through production.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of mechanical assemblies, drive product development, and contribute hands-on to design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Development

Own and maintain complete mechanical CAD assemblies

Design aircraft components including structures, fuselage, propulsion systems, and payload integration

Ensure accurate subsystem integration and configuration control

Product Lifecycle Management

Lead all phases of product development: concept, design, prototyping, testing, and production

Perform engineering analysis and validation of designs

Support transition from prototype to full-scale manufacturing

Design Optimization

Improve designs for manufacturability, reliability, weight, and performance

Optimize fabrication and assembly processes (e.g., composites, machining, 3D printing)

Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve system-level performance goals

Documentation & Communication

Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and specifications

Clearly communicate engineering decisions and project updates

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably in aerospace or UAS

Technical Skills

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar)

Strong understanding of aircraft structures and mechanical systems

Knowledge of manufacturing methods including composites, machining, and additive manufacturing (3D printing)
