This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and supporting pre-construction activities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical and plumbing systems, along with the ability to work across various project delivery methods.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Analysis
Prepare detailed mechanical and plumbing cost estimates for large-scale construction projects
Analyze drawings, specifications, and documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates
Develop estimates for projects using Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid methods
Perform material take-offs and quantity surveys
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Negotiate pricing, scopes, and contracts with subcontractors
Develop comparative estimates based on multiple design options
Risk & Compliance
Review front-end specifications and contract documents to identify project requirements and risks
Coordinate with project teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids
Leadership & Documentation
Mentor and guide junior estimators
Maintain accurate documentation and records of estimates and project data
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in construction projects
Strong experience in mechanical and plumbing estimation for large-scale projects (e.g., $10M+)
Experience working in hard-bid environments
Ability to interpret schematic designs, construction drawings, and specifications
Strong knowledge of cost analysis, material take-offs, and project estimation techniques
Experience in subcontractor scope development, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation
Familiarity with project controls such as purchase orders, submittals, and material releases
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in HVAC ductwork estimation (nice to have)
Experience mentoring or leading junior team members
Background in industrial, institutional, or healthcare construction projects
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)
Equivalent work experience may be considered
