Job Title: Sprinkler Designer

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sprinkler Designer to plan and design fire sprinkler systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This role involves creating system layouts, performing hydraulic calculations, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and supporting project execution from design through completion. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and layout fire sprinkler systems using industry-standard software

  • Interpret architectural and construction drawings to develop accurate system designs

  • Ensure designs comply with NFPA codes and local regulations

  • Perform hydraulic calculations to validate system performance

  • Coordinate sprinkler layouts with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems

  • Conduct site visits and field checks to verify measurements and installation conditions

  • Perform water supply and hydrostatic flow tests as required

  • Prepare material take-offs and support procurement processes

  • Participate in project coordination, meetings, and scheduling activities

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Fire Protection Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 2–5 years of experience in fire sprinkler system design preferred

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 14, 20)

  • Proficiency in design software such as HydraCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools

  • Solid understanding of hydraulic calculations and water supply systems

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level II certification in Water-Based Systems Layout

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regular use of design software and computer systems

  • Occasional travel to construction sites for inspections and coordination

  • May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during site visits
