Job Description:

One of our clients have an immediate need for a licensed Structural Engineer to join their Nashville office. Their work consists primarily of mid- and low-rise retail and light industrial buildings delivered on fast-paced schedules, offering the opportunity to take ownership of design and see projects move quickly from concept through construction. This role is ideal for a licensed engineer who enjoys hands-on design, managing multiple projects at once, and working closely with a small, collaborative team. Engineers here typically handle several projects at once and are trusted with meaningful responsibility early.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis and calculations for building loads, including gravity, wind, and seismic.

  • Prepare structural calculations, details, and construction documents for steel, concrete, masonry, tilt-up, and wood structures.

  • Manage multiple small-to-mid-size projects simultaneously from concept through construction.

  • Coordinate with in-house team members (architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical) and outside consultants to deliver efficient, integrated designs.

  • Review shop drawings, address comments from code officials, and respond to contractor RFIs.

  • Conduct site visits, building assessments, and construction phase observations; prepare written reports and findings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.

  • Active PE or SE license.

  • 4+ years of structural design experience on commercial, retail, or industrial projects.

  • Experience working with governing design codes and standards such as the IBC and ASCE7.

  • Experience working on a mix of materials — steel, concrete, tilt-up, masonry, and wood — for commercial projects across the United States.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.

  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as RAM Elements, spWall, spMats, Enercalc, or similar.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with tilt-up or light industrial structures.

  • Construction phase services experience.

  • Experience producing structural drawings in Revit.
