Position Overview
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Clinic Medical Director to serve as the on-site medical leader for a premier outpatient wellness clinic.
The Medical Director will provide overall medical leadership, clinical oversight, and regulatory guidance for medical services, including a comprehensive methadone dispensing program.
The ideal candidate will champion evidence-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care while ensuring strict adherence to applicable federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Provide medical direction and clinical oversight for medication-assisted treatment (MAT), primary care, and behavioral health services.

Oversee the clinic’s methadone dispensing program and ensure compliance with applicable DEA, SAMHSA, and federal regulations.

Establish and maintain high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor key clinical performance indicators.

Guide risk management activities and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes.

Recruit, supervise, credential, and support physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff.

Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and professional development to the medical team.

Collaborate with the Clinic Director through the Dyad Operating Model to establish organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Work collaboratively to improve patient access, care delivery, clinical outcomes, and program growth.

Promote evidence-based, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and patient-centered care.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
-
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.

Current, unrestricted California medical license.

Active DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances.

Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience in addiction medicine or substance use disorder treatment.

Strong understanding of outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment environments.
Preferred
-
Board certification in Addiction Medicine.

Board certification in Addiction Psychiatry or a related specialty.

Previous experience with Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs).

Experience working in FQHCs or Tribal Health Clinics.
