Position Overview
The Chair of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program provides academic and administrative leadership for the program. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, curriculum development, faculty management, student success, and accreditation compliance. The Chair acts as a key liaison between faculty and administration while ensuring program quality and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Student Advising & Success (40%)
Provide academic advising and mentorship to graduate students
Support student onboarding, course enrollment, and progression
Monitor academic performance and identify at-risk students
Collaborate with leadership to improve student retention and completion rates
Ensure timely communication and support for student queries
Guide students through certification processes and ensure high success rates
- Program Management & Development (30%)
Oversee curriculum planning, course delivery, and program evaluation
Ensure continuous improvement through assessment and quality initiatives
Support student recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts
Contribute to accreditation and compliance activities
Participate in institutional committees and academic initiatives
- Teaching Responsibilities (10%)
Teach graduate-level nursing courses (MSN/FNP or DNP programs)
Develop and update course content aligned with academic standards
Apply effective teaching and assessment methodologies
Maintain strong student satisfaction and learning outcomes
- Faculty Supervision & Support (10%)
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate part-time faculty and academic advisors
Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and training of faculty
Monitor teaching effectiveness and implement improvements
Support curriculum delivery aligned with institutional standards
- Scholarship & Professional Contribution (10%)
Engage in research, publications, or academic presentations
Contribute to the advancement of nursing education
Represent the program in professional and academic forums
Reporting Structure
Reports to senior academic leadership (e.g., Dean or equivalent)

Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with FNP specialization (required)
Active licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner (as applicable)
Experience in teaching, academic leadership, or program management
Proven ability to mentor graduate-level students
Experience with learning management systems and academic tools
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral/terminal degree in Nursing (DNP, PhD, or EdD)
Record of scholarship, research, or publications
Experience working with adult or graduate learners
