Job Title: Director of Attorney Development

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Attorney Development to lead and manage the professional growth, performance, and advancement of attorneys. This role involves designing and implementing development programs, advising leadership, and aligning talent strategies with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and experience in talent development within a professional services environment (e.g., law firm, legal department, or corporate legal setting).

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

Serve as a strategic advisor on attorney development and talent initiatives

Partner with leadership, HR, and recruiting teams to align development strategies

Conduct needs assessments and support workforce planning and succession strategies

Training & Development Programs

Design and implement attorney development programs across all career stages

Develop training initiatives including onboarding, mentoring, leadership development, and career progression

Deliver customized learning programs aligned with organizational goals

Performance Management

Oversee performance evaluation processes, including reviews and feedback systems

Support advancement, promotion readiness, and competency frameworks

Identify development gaps and implement improvement plans

Retention & Transition Management

Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback trends

Develop strategies to improve retention and engagement

Support leadership transitions and succession planning

Operations & Systems

Manage learning management systems (LMS) and training resources

Track development metrics, reporting, and program effectiveness

Oversee budgets, vendors, and program logistics

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor development team members

Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field

Preferred Education

Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD, or Master's in Organizational Development or Leadership)

Experience

Minimum 5+ years of experience in a professional services or similar environment

Experience in talent development, leadership development, or performance management (preferred)
